BUYING GUIDES
SOCCER NETS
Purchasing a new pair soccer nets isn't as straight forward as should be, so we've made a simple guide to point you point you in the right direction and help you avoid making any mistakes!
SIZE&FRAME TYPE
Soccer nets come in many different sizes and within these sizes there are different goal frame types, all of which require a specific net:
- If you have the slightest doubt measure the the width and height of the frame- do not guess!
Then you need to decide what type of net you need. Looking at the frame side on, does it have supporting brackets, back stansions or none what so over?

- For D-Shape and Slant Back frames standard nets are suitable for both
- For un-bracketed frames, straight back nets are required
- For Stanchioned frames stadium nets are required
NET THICKNESS&TYPE
Once you've decided what type of net you need to chose the quality of the net. We stock a wide variety as illastrated by the table below.

Twisted - This is the main type of twine used for all regulation nets. When manufactured correcty it is strong, durable and flexible making it ideal for soccer netting. In terms of thickness:
- 2mm and 2.5mm offers great strength whilst remaining economically disirable. Ideal for training/recreational goals and as samba nets.
3mm and 4mm are excepionallt high standard nets, they will give untouched performance; from longevity to actuall appearance they can't be faulted. Ideal for clubs of any level.
Braided - Can be seen as the 'creme de la crem' of netting twine. Immensely strong, unrivaled durabilty and asthetically in a class of its own.
- 4.5mm provides everthing that is required at the highest level of club and international competition.
Knotless - Is a relitively new type of twine. Although it certainly does have a role to play in sports netting, it is not suitable for soccer netting. Its lightweight construction means longevity is notably daminished, its inherant design also makes it very hard to repair plus a number of other factors which severly hinder its suitabilty foot soccer. As such knotless soccerl nets are not supplied by any of the main sports equipment manufacturers, and is not used or advised to be used at any level of soccer.
- As a guide to strength, due to its contruction to match the strength of standard twsited twine it has to be made much thicker. So for example 2.5mm is equivialnt to approximently 1.8mm, 4mm twisted is equivialnt to approximently 2.9mm.
BUYING TIPS
- Be sure of the size you require
Don't simply buy solely on the basis of the advertised thickness of the netting
Check the weight, simple and easy guide to quality- the heavier the better
If you are looking for quality- don't buy cheap as you'll almost certainlty be disappointed
Regulation spec is there for reason, so make sure you go for nets that match it
....and it's worth remembering that like with mosts things you pay for what you get and it's no different with soccer nets, and how ever surprsing it may be there is a huge difference between the best and the worst!
